The life of the church centers around worship, the place
where we gather to give praise to God, offer our thanksgiving, hear the word
proclaimed, share in the Lord's Supper, and are commissioned to serve in the
world.
Greenfield Christian Church offers two services every Sunday at 8:30 a.m. &
10:45 a.m. Both are basically traditional in form mixed with some
contemporary music and elements. We are blessed with a beautiful
sanctuary constructed in 1895. The pipe organ can make the pews rattle or
sooth the soul. The Music Ministry of the church includes a Chancel Choir
(practices on Wednesday nights at 7 p.m.) a Handbell Choir (seasonal rehearsals
on Monday nights at 7 p.m.) and a varied array of soloists and ensembles.
Special services during the year include:
- Cantatas
at Christmas and Easter time in partnership with the Greenfield Community
Orchestra;
- Christmas
Eve Services;
- Ash
Wednesday Service;
- Maundy
Thursday Communion Service.
For Children During Worship…
Children’s Sermon
Every Sunday a special part of the 10:45 worship
service is a time for children with a lesson geared for them and related to the
theme of that day’s service. Following
the Children’s Sermon are several options for children and youth based on age
and interest.
Nursery
A fully equipped and professionally staffed
Nursery is provided on the lower level, east building for crib through age
3. For more details about the Nursery,
please click HERE.
Promised Land
"Children ages 4 to 2nd grade are invited to be a part of our
Promised Land during the second worship service. It has in-depth
Bible teachings similar to Sunday School. This program includes
a variety of group activities (e.g. prayers, singing, crafts, drama, puppets,
cooking, games, snacks, etc.). Children are encouraged to learn one Bible
memory verse each month. You will find us in the Promised Land room
across from the nursery. Younger children will receive Bible
lessons in the church nursery."
Y outh Worship
"Youth in grades 3 to 5 may join our special worship for
them during the second worship service. We learn how to study the
Old and New Testaments and use their teachings in the world of
today's youth. We are located next to Promised Land."
J-Walkers
As in “Walking with Jesus!” For
grades 6-12. Meets downstairs in youth
room next to the Nursery. Youth share
their joys and concerns, participate in prayer, and enjoy a short Bible Study
led by one of the church’s adults. They
return to the sanctuary for communion.
